    Getting around

    Public Transport

The elevated metro in The Loop, known as the ‘L’ train, is good for getting around, and a worthy attraction in its own right. Most of the lines now run 24 hours a day; visit www.transitchicago.com for information about passes. The Metra commuter rail system services the suburbs and nearby cities, while over 100 bus routes operate through the city.

The Loop area is full of taxis that are easily hailed in the street. They’re charged by meter, with a 15% tip being the norm.
