There are numerous shops at Birmingham Airport, both pre- and post-security. Duty-free shopping is available for passengers travelling outside the EU – this service is also available for non-EU arrivals.


OCS (tel: (0121) 767 7987) operates a lost property and left-luggage office on the first floor. Luggage trolleys are available for a £1 fee.


Other facilities at Birmingham Airport include 24-hour medical centres and a multi-faith prayer room.

    The city is well served by rail and bus links, with eight local rail lines connecting all the key sights and attractions and a comprehensive bus network spanning the entire city. The rail system is also good if you’re getting out of the city on day trips – taking you everywhere from Warwick Castle to Stratford-upon-Avon.


    You’ll find two types of taxi in Birmingham – London-style black cabs and private-hire vehicles. The former can be flagged down in the street and found at taxi ranks, the latter need to be pre-booked.
