How to get there
Driving Directions
Los Angeles International Airport is located just off the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1), near the intersection of Interstates 405 and 105 (Highway 1 is also named Lincoln Boulevard just north of the airport and Sepulveda Boulevard just south of the airport). From Los Angeles, take Interstate 405 South, turn off onto Interstate 105 West and follow signs to the airport. Traffic is heavy at peak times and the airport recommends using public transport.
Metro
A free shuttle bus (bus G) connects Los Angeles International Airport to the Aviation Station on the Green Line of the Metro light rail network (tel: (323) 466 3876; www.metro.net). A single fare on the Metro network starts at US$1.50, and journey time into the city is around 40 minutes.
Bus
Public bus services are run by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (tel: (323) 466 3876; www.metro.net). Buses run from car park C, which is connected to the terminals by a free shuttle bus. A single fare on the bus network starts at US$1.50, with additional charges of up to $1.40 on freeway services.
Shuttle
Various airport shuttle bus and mini-van services run to destinations all over southern California, including SuperShuttle (tel: (310) 782 6600; www.supershuttle.com) and Prime Time Shuttle (tel: (310) 342 7200; www.primetimeshuttle.com).
The FlyAway Bus (tel: 1 866 435 9529) serves Union Station, Westwood Station and Van Nuys Station. The journey time to central Los Angeles is 30 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic, and the fare is $8.
Taxi
Taxis stop outside the terminals on the lower (Arrivals) levels. Authorised taxis serve Los Angeles International Airport and display fixed-fare tariffs to local destinations. A list of providers is available on the airport’s website. Expect to pay upwards of $40 for the trip into central Los Angeles, $75 to Disneyland and $35 to Hollywood.
Car Parking
There are about 8,000 parking spaces available in eight centrally located car parks, providing both short and long-term parking. Metered parking is available in the central terminal area and in the uncovered car parks on the arrivals levels.
The two perimeter car parks (B and C) offer cheaper daily rates; the free shuttle runs between car park C and the terminals. There is a ‘cell phone waiting lot’ next to car park C for those collecting arriving passengers. Full parking information including prices is available on the airport website.
